Mission:

The mission of the Career Planning and Placement Services (CAPPS) office is to help students handle the transition from the academic world to the world of work, enable them to make informed career decisions, equip them with the job search techniques to help them procure a job on graduating and to forge mutually beneficial partnerships with the Industry.

Goals:

  • To provide career development services for students.
  • To equip students with the tools and techniques necessary to deal with the job market upon graduating and provide career services from freshman through senior year and after graduation.

Measurable Goals:

  • To carry out outreach activities in order to obtain internships, part time and full time job opportunities for students.
  • To procure internships for students in areas related to their major.
  • To conduct workshops and seminars on career related issues to help students handle the transition from University to workplace.
  • To conduct various activities and events for alumni from time to time to help them reconnect with their alma mater.

What is the career Services role in the University?

The office helps students define their career goals and learn how to achieve them through counseling sessions, workshops, alumni networks and a large resource library. As AGU students and graduate we help you choose a career direction, research career information, prepare you for the job market and find relevant employment during and after your studies with Al Ghurair University.

Career planning is learning about yourself and the job market and then making choices based on what you’ve learned. Career planning gives you a better chance to get what you want from life. Careful planning can help you focus on employment and careers that are right for you. These skills can be used throughout our life.

This is achieved through career guidance, work assignments and workshops and mutually beneficial partnerships with the industry.”

What are the services we offer?

Career Counseling

Choosing a satisfying major or career is an important decision, and career planning gives you better chance to get what you want from life. Career planning and placement services provides a broad range of services to students in order to assist them in self assessment and exploring careers to developing the academic and professional potential of every student .

CAPPS office provides individualized career counseling and self assessment for student to identify their personality, values and skills in career questions and concerns to learn more about how your personality can impact your choice .It also provides add on services like helping students write their CV, cover letters, prepare for interviews etc.

Internships
All students have to undertake an internship assignment related to their major for 6-8 weeks. The CAPPS office facilitates all procedures and helps students locate internship sites, coordinates between the students, colleges and the companies to make the internship possible.

Placements
To give the students a clear understanding of the type of opportunities that lies ahead and helps them to build their confidence and prepare the students for successful and rewarding careers. Placement is the proper way for the students to get training and apply their learning in the environment of work. CAPPS office works closely with students and companies to arrange both full time as well as part time placements for students throughout the academic session as well as during semester breaks.

Eligibility for CAPPS services
All registered students have access to the CAPPS office and it’s services. While students can walk into the CAPPS office during normal working hours for most of their requirements, some of the services might require prior appointment. Doing so may ensure that you get quality time devoted to you from their staff.

How to avail of career counseling services?
Any student desirous of getting counseling may approach the career office with their issue on hand. These maybe issues like choosing a major, knowing about career opportunities related to your major, how to prepare a CV or for Interviews etc. It is advisable to take a prior appointment so that the office can do full justice to your requirements.

How to apply for Internships?

Kindly approach CAPPS office and fill up the Internship form. CAPPS office will advise you of the steps thereafter based on your college’s requirements for Internship. To download the Internship form please click downloads and go to Internship application under that.

There are 2 forms that you need to fill.

  • Year Book Form ( We will be publishing a year book of graduating students which will carry your name and contact details and you will take a copy with you. To apply for the same kindly visit our office.
  • Exit Survey Form You have spent 4 precious years of your student life in our University. We hope you enjoyed your stay here. Do take a few minutes of your time to fill the EXIT SURVEY FORM. To download a copy CLICK Downloads and go to Exit Survey Form Under that.
