Dean’s Message
Welcome to the official website of the College of Business at Al Ghurair University. I am truly honored to serve this young and yet vibrant business school as Dean. If you are a potential student looking for all-around business education to get you ready for the many and complex global challenges of the 21st Century, then I have four important messages for you. First, we at Al Ghurair University in general—and our faculty and staff in the College of Business in particular—are truly student-centered, and welcome the opportunity to help you realize your educational dreams. In other words, we will work hard every day to ensure that all of our students can start their educational journey and, more importantly, be able to finish it! Second, when you come here you will discover that there are no speed limits to business educational excellence. Your education is, after all, our moral imperative, and we intend to live up to your expectations. Third, we welcome students from all over the world! That is as it should be. The diversity we seek, and cherish, is also reflected in the highly qualified international faculty that you will find in our school. Finally, we offer career-relevant business degrees. Right now, these are the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with various concentrations/specializations, and the Master’s degree in BusinessAdministration (MBA). The MBA has three specializations: Financial Management, Human Resources Management, as well as Project Management.
Going forward, we will continuously realign our degree offerings and curricula to meet the changing needs of business and society in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and the world.

Dean’s Profile
Professor Gerry Nkombo Muuka is the Dean of the College of Business at Al Ghurair University (AGU) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Prior to joining AGU in August 2018, he served for 16 years as Associate Dean and MBA Director—and Director of AACSB accreditation—in the Arthur J. BauernfeindCollege of Business at Murray State University in Kentucky, USA. In 2015/2016, he served as Interim Dean at the school. He holds a BBA (Summa Cum Laude/Distinction) from the University of Zambia, an MBA from Murray State University, and a Ph.D. in Business from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK, where he studied on a British Commonwealth Scholarship. Professor Muuka led the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business in the USA through three successful AACSB accreditation cycles in 2008, 2013, and most recently in February 2018. His numerous intellectual contributions include over 40 articles in peer reviewed journals (PRJs) and two edited books. Since 2011, he has won 6 Best Paper Awards at various international conferences, 5 of the 6 dealing with AACSB Accreditation. They include his 2017 Best Paper Award for the manuscript titled: Mystery Solved: Introducing a Mission-linked Impact Matrix (MIM) as a Framework for successful Continuous Improvement Review under the 2013 New AACSB accreditation standards.
