Founded in 1999 by the prominent Al Ghurair Group, AGU is a community oriented university that is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. AGU offers a comprehensive set of accredited programs that are tailored to serve the needs of the UAE and the wider GCC.

“Teleworking in the UAE—Best Research Paper Award Goes to Al Ghurair University Professor”

Dr. Mohamed Gamal Aboelmaged, Associate Professor, College of Business Studies, Al Ghurair University, Dubai has received the “Best Paper Award in Managerial and Economic Research in the United Arab Emirates for 2012” from Cultural & Scientific Association and Al Awais Award for Scientific Invention, Dubai. The Award carries a cash prize of AED 20,000 as well.

Dr. Gamal”s research paper on “Teleworking Phenomenon in the United Arab Emirates” reveals not only the influencing factors, facilitators, and inhibitors to the choice of teleworking mode in the UAE context but also sheds light on the significant impact of specific demographic, individual, and organizational factors on the this phenomenon. The findings of the research paper represent socially-relevant contribution in the contemporary borderless world and would be of great help in enabling the people of the UAE to make a much greater contribution to the world of work.

Emphasizing the utility of his research, Dr Gamal said “While a great deal of extensive research on different domains of management has been carried out in the developed countries, research in the specific context of the Middle East & North Africa region is almost non-existent; hence, there is a huge justification and pressing need for more and more research endeavors and the institutional supprt in this part of the world”.

Dr. Gamal has had his MA in Public Policy & Administration from the International Institute of Social Studies, The Netherlands and PhD in Management Science from the University of Lancaster, UK. His research papers have been published in a number of eminent international journals and in the proceedings of highly accredited international conferences, on multiple occasions, in the past.
