Summary• The Dean of the College is the main academic leader of the college.
Key Responsibilities• Manage the academic, administrative, and financial affairs of the College/School according to the prescribed rules and regulations of the University.
• Evaluate overall productivity in education, research, and service responsibilities of the College/School
• Prepare and present annual reports of the activities of his/her College/School to the Vice President for Academic Affairs
• Supervise the planning, development, and implementation process of all academic programs of the College/School
• Determine and recommend the names of the students for the award of degrees to the Senate
• Direct and supervise the administrative and academic activities of the Departments within the College/School.
• Chair the College Board meetings and Heads of Department meetings
• Lead the College/School efforts toward achieving University mission and goals
• Prepare College/School budget in consultation with the appropriate Departments and units of the University;
• Lead and coordinate major academic activities such as curriculum development, assessment, evaluation, program review, self-study, and accreditation
• Supervise, evaluate, and support College/School in a manner that promote excellence in instruction and research
• Oversee faculty and staff selection processes within the College/School;
• Coordinate the professional development of College/School faculty and staff
• Supervise and evaluate faculty, staff, and Heads of Departments
• Prepare reports as needed to the Board of Governors.
• Serve on standing and ad hoc committees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs
Qualification• Ph. D Degree from an accredited university.
Experience• At least 7 years of experience in the related area
Skills Required• A qualified dean should have very strong communication skills, both verbal and written as well as the ability to continuously monitor and improve University programs.
• Should have proven track record as a leader & teacher.
