Bachelor of Science – Computer Science and Engineering

Program Objectives

The Computer Science and Engineering Program educational objectives are based on the college mission statement. The program is developed and run aiming at realizing the following four objectives:

  • Have a breadth of knowledge in mathematics and basic sciences, associated with the broader scope of engineering and beyond that narrowly required for the field and lifelong learning.
  • Be proficient in the use of, the modern theory, techniques, development processes, and tools used to develop computer based systems and solve problems in computer science and engineering.
  • Have excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills necessary for successful professional careers.
  • Have an understanding of the responsibilities associated with engineering practice, including the professional, societal, and ethical context in which they do their work.

The following outcomes have been developed based on and in support of the program’s objectives. Upon successful competition of the BSCSE program, graduates will be able to:

  1. apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to computer science and engineering problems
  2. design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. analyze, design and implement a computer-based system to meet desired needs within realistic constraints
  4. identify, formulate, and solve computer science and engineering problems
  5. use the techniques, skills, and modern tools necessary for computer science and engineering practice
  6. recognize the need for an adequate preparation for continued professional growth and lifelong learning
  7. communicate effectively with diverse audience
  8. lead teams with acquired leadership and management skills
  9. demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  10. acquire broad education necessary to understand the impact of computer science and engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  11. apply knowledge of contemporary issues in decision making
